Beginners Quilt-Along: Star Struck Sampler

Class Description: Ready to take your quilting to the next level? The Star Struck Sampler is an original Hoop & Bee pattern designed to build your skills block by block, one star at a time. Each week, we’ll explore a new star design while learning a range of quilting techniques, including rotary cutting, template piecing, foundation paper piecing, and appliqué.
During this eight-week series, you’ll use our studio equipment to practice accurate cutting, piecing, and pressing techniques, while building confidence across multiple quilting methods. This class focuses on quilt-top construction; quilting and binding will be covered in separate workshops.
By the end of this class, you’ll have a completed quilt top showcasing your progress, confidence, and creativity. Each star will be different, some large, some small, some simple and some very complex, and together they’ll form a truly striking sampler quilt that will uniquely yours.
A full syllabus and materials list will be emailed following your registration. Students may bring fabric or purchase a discounted kit from Hoop & Bee that includes the coordinating fabric necessary to make every block. Kits may be purchased as part of the registration process and will be waiting for you on the first day of class, or at the door on the first day of class.
No homework will be expected and we should have time to complete all tasks within the class schedule, but students will have free access to any Open Sew if they require or would feel safer and more comfortable to have additional time.

PLEASE NOTE: While no experience is necessary, if you have never used a sewing machine before and are feeling nervous or stressed about using one for the first time, please consider taking our Sewing Machine Confidence Builder prior to this class, or get in touch for a private one-on-one lesson.
Class Registration
All Hoop & Bee classes require registration to ensure enough seats and equipment for everyone. If you have any questions or difficulty scheduling, please reach out and we’ll be happy to help during our regular daytime staffed hours, Monday - Friday from 10am-4pm.
This class will run with 2+ participants. If there are not enough participants, you will be contacted to shift your seat to another time/date this class is being offered.
NOTE: if you do not see any classes on the schedule, it means either all classes are currently full, or are not being offered at this time. If you would like to register for a waiting list OR request a class to be offered in the future, please contact us.
Before your first class, please review our Class Policies. All participants should be 18+ unless approved by the instructor. Remember to only bring closed-top beverages to class! We are located on the second floor of Eastworks in Suite 209. We look forward to making with you!
