Pocketification!

Class Cost: $125

Class Description:  Ready to give your clothing the pockets they should have had all along? Join Malinda for Pocketification! This is a fun, beginner-friendly series focused on adding practical, durable pockets to the garments you already own. Pants, dresses, skirts, tunics… almost anything becomes more functional (and more delightful!) with well-placed pockets.

Over three sessions, you’ll learn how to design, draft, and insert patch pockets, inseam pockets, inset pockets, and even kangaroo pockets. We’ll talk about ergonomic placement so your pockets actually work for your body, reinforce seams for long-term wear, and troubleshoot common challenges like stretch fabrics and curved silhouettes.

While we’ll explore the fascinating history behind why many garments - especially those designed for women - were intentionally made without pockets, we approach the topic with a focus on empowerment, sustainability, and personal choice in clothing design.

Bring 2–3 garments you wish had pockets, and by the end of the series you’ll have transformed at least one into a more functional favorite, and the confidence and skills to keep going!

This class will run with 3+ participants.

PLEASE NOTE: While no garment experience is required, if you have never used a sewing machine before and are feeling nervous or stressed about using one for the first time, please consider taking our Sewing Machine Confidence Builder prior to this class, or get in touch for a private one-on-one lesson.
