Hem it up! Hemming 101

Class Duration & Length: Single Session, 3hrs

Class Cost: $72

Are Materials Included? All tools provided; students bring garments.

Class Description: Join Malinda for a welcoming, hands-on sewing class designed to help everyday clothing work for your actual body. No prior alteration experience needed; you’ll be guided step-by-step through approachable techniques in a supportive, body-positive space.

In just three hours, you’ll learn how to accurately measure and mark a hem, choose between hand- and machine-sewn finishes, and press for a clean, polished look. We’ll also cover tips for hemming denim, knits, and other trickier fabrics so you can confidently care for the garments already hanging in your closet.

Bring one or two items that need a quick refresh — pants, skirts, sleeves, or anything that’s just… a little too long. You’ll leave class with a finished alteration, practical new skills, and the confidence to keep customizing your wardrobe.

This class will run with 3+ participants.

PLEASE NOTE: While no garment experience is required, if you have never used a sewing machine before and are feeling nervous or stressed about using one for the first time, please consider taking our Sewing Machine Confidence Builder prior to this class, or get in touch for a private one-on-one lesson.

This is a beginner-friendly skills class and does not include fit adjustments beyond hemming.
