Guest Instructor Malinda Lesko: Alterations for Real Bodies

Class Duration & Length: 3 sessions, Tuesdays, 2 hrs/ea

Class Cost: $100

Are Materials Included? All tools provided; students bring garments.

Class Description:   Frustrated with clothes that almost fit? Tired of settling for “close enough” when it comes to your wardrobe? Join Malinda for a welcoming, hands-on sewing course for beginners who want to make everyday clothing work for their actual bodies, not industry sizing charts. No prior alteration experience is needed; you’ll be guided step-by-step through approachable techniques in a supportive, body-positive space.

Over three sessions, you’ll learn how to alter your current wardrobe for comfort, confidence, and real life. From hemming pants and dresses, to taking in a too-loose top, or to making thrifted finds feel made-for-you, you’ll gain confidence in using basic tools, reading your clothes, and pinning alterations. The exact techniques covered will vary based on what students bring, so each class is collaborative, adaptable, and full of shared problem-solving.

The three-week format gives you time to practice between classes, return with new questions, and work on multiple garments. Bring a different piece each week and leave with altered clothing you can wear right away, practical skills you’ll use for years, and a fresh way of thinking about clothing and fit.

This class will run with 3+ participants.

PLEASE NOTE: While no garment experience is required, if you have never used a sewing machine before and are feeling nervous or stressed about using one for the first time, please consider taking our Sewing Machine Confidence Builder prior to this class, or get in touch for a private one-on-one lesson.
