Class Description:  The Spring Studio Series at Hoop & Bee is designed for makers who want time, space, and support to work on projects they care about. Each Track offers guided studio time within a structured, supportive environment, allowing you to bring your own ideas, works-in-progress, or patterns while receiving instruction and feedback from our instructors along the way.

In the Garment Track, you choose what you want to work on and move it forward throughout the series. You might bring a pants pattern you’ve been too intimidated to start on your own, a garment that just needs fitting or finishing, or decide to begin with a straightforward top or skirt while having an instructor nearby to guide you. This Track offers flexibility in what you make, with consistent guidance and hands-on instructor support as you work.

If you’ve ever made a garment that almost works, stalled because you weren’t sure what to do next, or wished someone could look at your project and say “okay, here’s the next move,” this Track is for you. Whether you join Malinda Lesko on Sundays or Catherine Lanyon on Thursdays, you’ll focus on garment construction, fit, and problem-solving — including how to read patterns, assess fit, make adjustments, and choose techniques that best serve your body and your goals. The Garment Track is for sewists who want structure and accountability to expand their wardrobe without giving up choice or creativity.

Throughout the series, you’ll receive individualized guidance, demonstrations as needed, and help identifying next steps as challenges arise. While a fully finished garment is not guaranteed depending on the complexity, you’ll make meaningful progress on clothing you care about and leave with stronger skills, greater confidence, and clearer strategies for tackling future garments.

Each class will run with 3+ participants.

PLEASE NOTE: While no experience is necessary, if you have never used a sewing machine before and are feeling nervous or stressed about using one for the first time, please consider taking our Sewing Machine Confidence Builder prior to this class, or get in touch for a private one-on-one lesson.
