Foundation Paper Piecing Workshop

Class Length: 3 hours

Class Cost: $68

Are Materials Included? YES, everything is included!

Class Description:  Have you ever looked at a wildly intricate quilt block and thought, “Okay, but how in the world…?” Foundation Paper Piecing (FPP) is often the technique behind sharp angles, tiny pieces, and bold graphic designs - and it’s far less mysterious than it looks. If you’ve been curious but slightly intimidated, this is your friendly, hands-on introduction.

In this 3-hour workshop, you’ll learn the foundations of foundation paper piecing from start to finish: how to read or piece a paper pattern, how to place and sew fabric in the correct order, how to trim for accuracy, and how to remove the paper once your block is complete. We’ll break the process down into clear, manageable steps so you can understand the “why” behind every step.

Students will practice with samples and then complete a foundation paper pieced block in class and leave with the skills and confidence to explore more complex patterns. Once you understand the method, intricate designs become much more approachable - and a lot more fun.

Students should know how to operate and sew fabric using a sewing machine, but no prior experience with FPP or quilting is required.

This class will run with 3+ participants.

PLEASE NOTE: This class is for confident beginners and up. If you have never used a sewing machine before or are feeling stressed or nervous about using one, please consider taking our Sewing Machine Confidence Builder or Beginning Quilting prior to this class or get in touch for a private one-on-one lesson.
